4th XI miss out in tight top of league clash

16 Aug 2011

The one shining light of the season has been the form of the Sunday 4th XI they have only suffered one defeat all season. That was to the Hoylandswaine Aussie Pros.
Sundays top of the table clash saw them secure a losing draw despite scoring over 200 and taking 9 wickets.
Folk tell me its a poor standard! mmm!
We fielded and South Kirkby got 214 for 9(i think) off 40.
Good bowling from Simon Oldham, Al Elliott (went thro the pain barrier) and backed up by Dave Mezza and Robbo who again showed good commitment coming off nights to play.
A tall order batting second. Al smashed 50 odd off 8 over sand we looked on our way. Especially with Robbo going well in at 3 when Josh Bell got a dodgy LBW.
Robbo succumbed after being wound up and despite the star batter Monty Burns getting 70 we couldn't sustain the rate to win us the game.
We missed Bradders (DNP) and Hully who although was there snapped his back!!
Ding Simon and Kezza tried push it along.
It was left to Gozzer to bat out the last 5/6 balls for a draw we finally finishe 10 short!  Good effort though.
