Match report Brodsworth declared and forfeited the points on the grounds of safety. Athersley opening fast bowler Hirst was bowling out of the dark background of the building and hit no fewer than 4 players. When senior players Digger Barnes and Rog Snr suggested he bowl from the other end the requests were met with disdain, suggesting they should come in and face him. He then hit captain Will Barker and after talking to his senior players he deliberately hit his wicket and declared. There was an intimidating atmosphere around the ground as Brodsworth left, but Athersley were ultimately kicked out of the league before the end of the season due to poor discipline.
